The National University of Singapore (NUS) is one of the leading universities in Singapore. Every year there are on average 30,000 students enrolled in the various courses in NUS. This article will summarise how you can apply to NUS in the coming application cycles.
Similar to other universities in Singapore, NUS divide their applicant pool according to the various high school degrees available:
Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level (‘A’-Level)
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
Polytechnic Diplomas
NUS High School Diploma
Singapore Citizen / SPR with International Qualifications
International Students with International Qualifications
Transfer Applicants
Students will submit their applications via a dedicated portal on the NUS website. The application portal will open three working days after the release of 2021 Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level results. Ensure you have enough time to submit the applications and make the application fee payment of SGD10 online. Below are the deadlines for the respective pool of students:
‘A’-Level: by 19 March 2022
IB: 21 February 2022
NUS High: 31 January 2022
International Qualifications: 17 February - 3 March 2022, depending on your qualifications

Personal Particulars
You may utilise MyInfo as discussed above to fill out your personal details. In addition, do provide a valid email address in order for the University to contact you when necessary. Providing a valid Singapore mobile number to receive SMS alerts for admission updates is optional.
National Service (NS) in Singapore
If you are required to fulfil the mandatory full-time NS in Singapore, you have to indicate your status accordingly. Select “Not Applicable” and proceed with the rest of the application if you are a female applicant or non-citizen.

Choices of Courses
You are eligible to apply to a maximum of eight single degree choices and another eight double degree, concurrent degree, double major or minor programmes.
Applicants who have selected Engineering courses in their Single Degree course choices will be asked to indicate if they wish to be considered for Special Programmes offered by the Faculty of Engineering.
Education
You need to provide your pre-university results. For the Singapore- Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level students, if you do not have the relevant ‘A’ Level subject(s) to fulfil course pre-requisites, please input Additional Mathematics and/or Physics grades attained at the Singapore- Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level or Integrated Programme Secondary 4 level.
For International Baccalaureate (IB) students, do indicate any subjects retaken after graduation. Provide your IB personal code to allow NUS to verify your IBDP transcript.
Achievement
This is an optional section. Applicants who wish to be considered under the Aptitude Based Admissions Scheme should share their achievements at this section and provide details through the 2,000 characters Personal Statement.
Health and Support
Applicable if you have past or current medical or mental health conditions and/or physical disabilities.
Tuition Grant
Singapore Permanent Residents and International Students are strongly encouraged to indicate their intention to apply for Tuition Grant should they intend to stay in Singapore post-graduation for jobs. Singapore Citizens should declare accordingly.
Financial Aid
This section is to indicate your household income information and your intention to apply for financial aid. You need to submit a separate online application for it.
Documents Upload
You will be prompted to upload relevant supporting documents when completing the online application form. You may submit additional documents after completing the online application via the Student Portal by the application close date.
Personal Identification Number (PIN)
You need to create a confidential 8-digit alphanumeric PIN. The PIN and Application Number will allow you to track your application and submit supporting documents online at the Student Portal.
Waiting for Outcome
Depending on the course(s) you have applied for, an interview and/or selection test may be required before an admission outcome can be made. The Admission Selection Committee will consider your application based on academic merits and choice of courses before releasing an outcome online. Below is the respective window in which the application results are released:
‘A’-Level: 3rd week of May
IB: End of May
NUS High, International Students with International Qualifications, Singaporeans with International Qualifications: Between May and July
